Depending on where you go camping, you may often find yourself near a body of water such as a lake or the ocean. Here are some water sports you can enjoy on your next camping trip.

Swimming

Whether you’re camping by the sea or at a lake, swimming is a simple, fun and cheap watersport to participate in. All you’ll need is a swimming costume, a pair of goggles. There are 4 traditional swimming styles, namely, crawl, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly.

Crawl and breaststroke are the easiest, and so we’d advise using either of these two. Crawl is faster than breaststroke, but breaststroke can be more relaxing. Breaststroke can also be done above the water, so for those not wanting to wet their hair this is a good option

Scuba Diving

It is a wonderful pursuit that is best accomplished with the assistance of a certified guide. It is essential to take diving lessons if you want to try scuba diving. It is important to know how to use the equipment, how to stay safe under the water, and how water pressure affects your body.

Scuba diving should also be approved by your doctor. Certain medical conditions may prevent you from diving. Along with pregnancy, heart problems, breathing problems, and hay fever, you may also feel seasick.

Surfing

Water sports can’t be imagined without thinking of surfing. Riding waves on a board is the simplest, yet most thrilling experience.

In terms of surfing equipment, all you need is a surfboard, which takes some consideration if it’s your first time. There are two factors to consider when purchasing a beginner surfboard. A board’s material and size, as well as its construction.

There are three types of surfboards based on their construction: fibreglass, epoxy, and soft-top. Soft-top boards are recommended for beginners. It will ensure your safety as well as the safety of those around you if you purchase a soft top board. Soft-top boards are a good choice for beginners because of their softer outer-core, which reduces the risk of injury. Furthermore, foam surfboards don’t ding as much, so they require fewer repairs.

There will be soft top surfboards for rent at most surf camps and surf schools in whichever country you choose to surf. Around the world, including world-famous surf destinations like Nicaragua and Hawaii, surf camps and schools use soft top surfboards.

Kayaking

Kayaks are narrow boats with one or more cockpits, each holding one or two paddlers. It takes getting used to the double-bladed paddle and finding a rhythm to find a sustainable paddling stroke.

Alternating between the left and right sides is necessary to propel yourself forward. Kayaks can be used on rivers, lakes, and dams as well as in the sea. The first time you kayak, it’s best to paddle with a friend, as your combined strokes will help you go faster and require less effort from each of you.

Kayaking trips can last anywhere from one to five hours. Half-day trips usually require you to bring a packed lunch and plenty of water. A waterproof daypack is a good idea to store food, water, and valuables like a phone or camera.

Cliff-diving

A somewhat more extreme challenge would be the perfect way to end this list of recommendations. All you need is a cliff with a deep body of water beneath it. Diving is of course the biggest challenge. For many people, diving is a little too scary, so they jump instead.

Cliff diving should always be practiced in a safe environment. You should also have someone else on a boat or floating dock nearby in case something goes wrong when you land in the water. They can respond quickly to help.
