Americans deal with a lot of stress, and heading out on the road can be a great way to escape and take some time away from your busy life. It can help you free your mind, recharge your batteries and generally improve your mood and give you a break.

But what if your trip or time on the road passes over a holiday like Valentine’s Day? Thankfully, there are still some great ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day on the road.

Just because you aren’t at home in your own space doesn’t mean you can’t have a great time and spend it with the one you love. Read on to learn more about some brilliant ways to spend a fun Valentine’s Day on the road with your partner.

Get Some Gifts

Of course, a good idea for Valentine’s Day no matter where you are is to get some gifts. Giving someone a gift is a good way to show how much you appreciate them, and how much you enjoy having them in your life.

As for what you should give as a gift, that depends. Chocolate and candy are solid options, and things like clothing or jewelry can always be a safe bet that your significant other is sure to love. You could also make them a gift, if you are up for it.

Another awesome option are flowers. They look amazing, and can often give off wonderful scents sure to make your RV or car feel like home. Many varieties of flowers can be found, and can even be delivered all across the country.

While you might not be able to find each and everything you wanted to give as a gift, depending where you are, you can certainly find something wonderful to give. Don’t be afraid to get a little creative, as the beauty of a gift is often in their intention, and not the item itself.

Go Camping or Hiking

A camping or hiking date is another solid option if you are on the road on Valentine’s Day. If you are an outdoorsy couple, few things are as fun and rewarding as going camping and hiking. The country is full of amazing places to both hike and camp, to spend some time in the great outdoors.

You could simply find a campground near where you live, or even travel across the country to check out a national forest, the choice is yours. This experience can be very relaxing, while also challenging if you want it to be. Whether you camp in a tent, or a giant trailer, there are sites and campgrounds perfect for you.

Going off the beaten path and getting lost can be a lot of fun and add some excitement into your special day. Of course, be sure to have a map, your phone, some food and some water for the hike. The last thing you want is to find yourself stranded with no means of finding your way back and also having to deal with thirst and hunger.

Visit a Spa or Hot Springs

Depending on where you are, visiting a hot spring can be a unique and wonderful way to spend Valentine’s Day. There are several locations across the country that have hot springs you can visit, so no matter where you are, you might be closer to one than you would think. These provide a place to relax, as well as see some of what this beautiful country has to offer.

If you can’t find any hot springs nearby for one reason or another, another high-quality option is to visit a spa. Here you can get a couples massage, some pedicures, facials or a variety of others. These services can leave you refreshed and ready for the rest of your time on the road.

Try Something New

Trying something new is another great idea when celebrating Valentine’s Day on the road. Oftentimes, we get so caught up in our ways that we don’t branch out and try new things, even if we think we may like them. But a Valentine’s Day on the road away from home can make the perfect time to broaden your horizons and go a little bit out of your comfort zone.

As for what you try, that completely depends on you. You could attempt to go fishing, rock climbing, white water rafting, or any number of other new experiences. While these can be frightening or intimidating, as long as you do them safely they can be a great time.

Of course, the things you do might be limited in terms of where you are. Also, sharing new experiences with one another can be a great way to build a relationship, so always keep that in mind. You and your partner will look back on these shared experiences for years to come, and remember the fun times you had, and how they ultimately brought you closer together.

Make Time for Celebration

Last but not least, even if you are on the road and have a tight schedule to adhere to for one reason or another, make sure that you find time for each other on Valentine’s Day. If you were planning on driving all day to a new destination, postpone that for a day and spend time with your loved one.

Even if all you do is sit on the beach in some chairs or relax in a hammock, at least you are spending some quality time in each other’s company. You don’t have to make Valentine’s Day a huge event, but you should make an effort to do a little something special on this day.

Any of these ideas can be fantastic ways to spend a romantic Valentine’s Day with your partner on the road. Don’t let where you are or the fact that you are on the road hold you back from having a lovely time with your partner.
