here’s nothing like the great outdoors – which is why there is a whopping industry for hunters, fishers and campers. Many people go camping to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life and the stresses and troubles of being cramped at home. We find it refreshing to go back into nature, because after all – we are technically animals.

An underrated camping activity that people need to know more about is definitely searching for gold nuggets. Nothing compares to the adrenaline rush of seeing pure gold and realizing that you have found it on your own.

Take a look at some of the best camping locations to go gold nugget searching:

California

“The Lost Dutchman’s Mining Association” is probably the best way to go when camping in California. They actually own the mining rights in various places. If you are interested in panning for some gold or wanting to camp you need to first join the association.

The Lost Dutchman’s group provides all sorts of fun things to do like heading to different places to mine and pan, as well as having real tutorials and shows on how to do things correctly. The association owns camps such as the Duisenberg Mine (160 acres), Finley Camp (140 acres) and an Italian bar near Stanislaus River.

Alaska

One of the best places to get gold (in the world) is Alaska, where you’ll find “Chicken Gold Camp & Outpost”. The gold camp is south of Taylor Highway, in the center of Chicken. The camp was built on the site of a gold camp that was around in the 30s and is now considered a historic site.

Many of the tools and relics are set in a museum outside and are open to view for visitors.

Australia

Head to Moliagul Campground if you happen to live down under, as Australia is also one of the best countries in history for some significant gold rushes. The world famous “Welcome Stranger” nugget is the largest alluvial gold nugget that has ever been found and has its home there.

England

Cornwall in England has been famous for the abundance of mineral deposits it has. Camborne in particular has brought such attention to the place and is one of the most well-known spots in the whole of the UK.

There are plenty of campsites all around Cornwall, lots having rivers rich in gold. There is no specific spot that is recommended either, as Cornwall in general is a nice retreat for campers of England. The South Croft mine is a highlight, so camping around that historical place is a dream for any gold hobbyist.

Conclusion

Wherever you are, no matter what country you live in – there will always be a place around you that seems to have been a historical place for gold mining. Looking for gold nuggets is no easy task, so you will need to brace yourself for the frustration of not finding anything lucky. But when you do, you will never forget it.
