Directions

From Ely, drive south on U.S. Highway 6/50/93. Elk can be seen on either side of the highway, starting about 6 miles from the town. Elk viewing signs along the highway designate the best viewing areas.

Occasionally elk can be observed feeding during the fall and spring seasons, both along the paved highway south of Ely and at the viewing area pull-out. Other watchable wildlife species in the area include golden eagles, ravens, black-tailed jackrabbits and least chipmunks.
