Camping might be your hobby or something you like to do on occasion. Whether you are a seasoned camper or a newbie, being comfortable is an important factor in the success of the trip. Camping can be tiring enough, with being outdoors all day and living a life completely different to the one we’re used to. So, you don’t want to increase the physical burden by having to lug heavy gear around all day.
Here are some lightweight gear to ease the burden, and make backpack camping comfier.

Camping Tent

First things first, your most essential piece of equipment should be lightweight, of course. Generally, the camping tent will be the heaviest thing you have considering the size, so you need to ensure you opt for one that is both lightweight and fulfills your requirements. During warmer temperatures, a one-man tent is probably sufficient. In the colder months, however, you might want a two-person for the extra kit. There are various one-man tent designs available. The pop-up is an easy tent that is ideal for those who want to be able to pitch their tent quickly and easily. If you don’t have the experience of pitching tents, this can also be a good option as it takes a lot of the stress away. The poles are assembled inside the fabric of the tent and are able to just spring up by themselves. Taking these tents down can be more of an effort, so bear that in mind. Dome tents have flexible poles. These are also easy to pitch, and they provide a lot of headroom. Tunnel tents are also a good one-man tent option. They provide a decent amount of space, and you are usually able to sit up easily. Geodesic tents are useful for more difficult weather conditions, as they have two or more poles that cross several times. This gives it a secure structure that makes camping on a mountain, for example, a little safer.

Food and Water

When camping, it is best to pack dried and dehydrated food, as these are less likely to be spoiled and tend to be smaller in size. You are usually able to have a full meal without needing several ingredients. They also tend to be nutritious, so you don’t need to be worried about that.  Water is your main essential on a camping trip. You will need it for both drinking and to cook if you are bringing along dried food. A collapsible water holder is your best bet for the trip as it will take up a lot less space. If you have access to fresh water, ensure you bring along water purification tablets. To stay on the safe side, you might want to only consume running water.

Furniture

Your furniture and cookware should all be lightweight. Additionally, you may need to cut down on certain items in order to reduce the load. You can get your hands on a lightweight stove which will help make it easier to cook your food, although you could rely on fire. A decent sleeping mat can easily make or break the quality of your sleep. You can always choose not to bring one, especially if you think you can be fine without one. This will certainly increase space and reduce the bulk. You can get a smaller length mat as they provide comfort but are still small. Other furniture, including camping chairs, can also be lightweight. These might seem like heavier and bulkier items, but they also come in lightweight versions. Bringing them along instead of the regular furniture types will make your camping trip a little easier.

Clothing

It’s best to cut back on the clothes for your trip. Stick to thin clothes that can be layered and avoid big, bulkier clothes. These can be too hard to carry around and wear. They will end taking up a lot of space and will be a huge hassle even if they are warm. Choose under layers that will keep you warm, and you should find that you don’t have much of a problem staying toasty. You might want to leave behind the walking boots and opt for walking shoes instead, or other suitable but light footwear.
Cut back on unnecessary items where necessary. It’s not that bad to make a few adjustments as well because this will help you enjoy your backpack camping trip a lot more. By using clever hacks, you can reduce the weight and increase space in your backpack. One way you can do this is by cutting out the cardboard center from a toilet roll and flattening it. You can also check the weather, and pack accordingly.
