Lac qui Parle was constructed for flood control in the Minnesota River Valley. The project is best known for its fishing and waterfowl hunting. It is known as the best walleye fishing in Western Minnesota, and has good populations of channel catfish, smallmouth bass, northern pike, bluegills and crappies. Lac qui Parle Lake is part of a State wildlife management area and is a major stopping point for migrating waterfowl.
