Overview:
In 1856, the discovery of gold on the Sixes River caused a flurry of gold mining and settlement on the southern Oregon Coast. Today, the Sixes River is still a place where you can try your luck panning for gold. The campground offers a rustic camping experience in an old-growth forest setting. Playing in the water, fishing for Chinook salmon and steelhead, or relaxing in the shady campsites are also popular activities. There is also a day-use and picnic area near the river.
